About our Mock Test: A Comprehensive Guide to Success
Prepare for your driving test with our comprehensive mock test. Learn about the test process, key assessments, reversing exercises, independent driving, and more.
Introduction
If you’re using our vehicle for the first time, our experienced driving instructor will guide you through the car controls before your mock test.
The Mock Test: Checking Your Driving Skills
The mock test is designed to assess all aspects of your general driving for approximately 40 to 50 minutes. Feedback will be provided afterward.
Preparing for the Mock Test
Before starting the mock test, we will check your driving license and conduct an eyesight check, which includes reading a number plate from a distance of around 20 metres.
General Driving: Navigating Various Road Conditions
The driving instructor will provide directions for you to follow. You will experience different road and traffic conditions, excluding motorways.
‘Show Me, Tell Me’ Questions and Manoeuvres
As part of the test, you will be asked ‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions and perform manoeuvres such as normal stops, pulling out from behind parked vehicles, hill-starts, and potentially emergency stops.
Reversing Exercises: Mastering Control and Precision
The driving instructor will assign one of the following exercises to assess your reversing skills:
– Parallel parking at the side of the road
– Parking in a designated bay (either driving in and reversing out or reversing in and driving out)
– Pulling up on the right-hand side of the road, reversing for about 2 car lengths, and re-joining the traffic.
Independent Driving: Following Directions
During a segment of approximately 20 minutes, you will demonstrate independent driving by following either directions from a sat nav or traffic signs. Please note that using your own sat nav is not allowed.
Clearing Obstructions: Navigating Hidden Traffic Signs
The driving instructor will provide directions until the next sign is visible if they encounter an obscured traffic sign (e.g., covered by trees).
Handling Route Deviation and Mistakes
Taking a wrong turning during the mock test will not result in a fault. The driving instructor will guide you back to the correct route if necessary.
Managing Mistakes: Carrying On with Confidence
You can continue the test even if you make a mistake. Minor errors may not significantly affect your test result unless they pose a danger to other road users.
The Instructor’s Role in Ensuring Safety
Your driving instructor will only stop the test if they believe your driving poses a risk to other road users.
Conclusion
Thoroughly prepare and actively follow the guidance provided. Approach your mock test with confidence, as you master the key aspects that will ensure your preparedness for success on your actual driving test.
